UK Triathlon Race Day Social Distancing

All UK Triathlon 2020 events whether swimming pool or open water swims

Social Distancing
Can we please remind you it is each and every person's responsibility to social distance, wherever they are in this country. The same will apply at ALL UK Triathlon events.

Start Format
Instead of mass starts throughout the day for open water events, each competitor will start at 30 second intervals, giving everyone their own individual start time and space. We run this format in all our pool based triathlons and it works perfectly. Pool based events will also probably have slightly longer start intervals than usual, most likely 30 seconds between competitors.
Spectators
We will ask you not to unnecessarily bring spectators to the events to help make social distancing easier for everyone.
Car Parking
Manned car parking will be managed in such a way that vehicles can be parked alternately, leaving a car parking space either side of vehicles as they unload bike/s. Once an entire row is parked and those people have moved away from their vehicles, the remaining spaces will be used to maintain good social distancing and reduce the probability of people exiting their vehicles at the same time.
Registration
Only one competitor will be allowed to register at a time. The queue for registration will be separated by ground stakes to assure a minimum of 2 metre separation. We will provide a sanitising hand station which you must use before entering registration.
Transition (in & out)
Competitors will be sent to consecutive numbered cycle racks so to avoid racking cycles next to each other. There will be a 10 minute time limit for racking your cycle and the same for retrieving your cycle after the event.
Race Brief
Race brief will be available to watch online at www.uktriathlon.co.uk.
There will also be a rolling live race brief at the poolside or lakeside. As competitors will start every 30 seconds, this will prevent groups of people and a 2 metre distancing measure will be in operation.
Finish Line
When you have crossed the finish line, we ask you not to stay in that area for any longer than required. Drinks will be dispensed for you at the finish feed area, please move away as quickly as possible to allow other finishers through.
Results
We will not operate our results screen at the event. Provisional results will be online at www.uktriathlon.co.uk later the same day.
Prize Presentation
Presentations will take place throughout the day, please observe 2 metre social distancing if attending the presentation.

I just wanted to say, what an event you guys put on! Ireally can't thank all the marshals and helpers enough for making the UKUltimate the event the highlight of my triathlon career so far. The helpfulnessand sheer enthusiasm of each and every person, who stood for hours in the hotsun handing out drinks and directing traffic really helped me to complete myfirst Iron distance event.

I can still hear the cheers and shouts of encouragementnow!

If anyone deserves a medal, it's these guys. I reallycan't thank you all for an incredible event and I'll be back for certain!

Cheers,

I've just completed the 2018 Ultimate. What a fantasticevent from start to finish. The things I loved about today's event would be fartoo long to list here. But I would like to make a special mention for themarshals. They can makeor break andevent and today they were exceptional.

For anyone thinking of doing a triathlon, this is theone. Stunning location, great course, excellent organisation, the best marshalsin the business. Everything to love.

Having previously done anIronman branded event, this was the complete opposite. It was so laid back, relaxed and really catered well for first timers. All possible questions wereanswered during the race briefing and everyone on site that day - mashalls, volunteers and participants all had a real sense of team spirit and you couldfeel each one wishing you well and wanting you to succeed.

The swim was ace. Great lake, shallow, clean, warm and easy tonavigate.

The bike course was the only real downside of this event. Thefirst half was lovely windy country roads which were good to cycle on. Thesecond half as you headed back into Whitchurch has some appauling roadsurfaces, roundabouts to navigate and very fast moving traffic shooting past. One aid station was on a hill - not easy to grab a drink! The second was on atight bend so again, not easy to use.

The run course was a mixture of trails around the lake, acrossthe grass and down a road. Apart from it being too hot and no shade (not theorganisers fault we actually had a sunny day!) the run course was good andpretty flat.

I think were were some issues with timing as it has taken 5 daysto get my results though, and my transition times are mixed in with my swim andbike so I don't actually know what my accurate splits were. This is however afew minor downside on what was a great day and a big achievement.

I would 100% recommend this triathlon dispite its few flaws withthe bike route. That is made up for by the helpfulness of every single marshallI met and the overall experience of the day.

Cheaper than an Ironman branded event and a great experience -if you are going for a long distance tri then I recommend this one.
